Brien Barbour

Brien began playing guitar and singing when he was only 8 yrs. old, and made his debut appearance on an early morning television show at age 10. He has since been classically trained in both voice and guitar.

His music is a unique blend of semi-classical, easy-listening, light rock, and folk; with a little country and bluegrass tossed in for fun. He is also and accomplished poet. Reading upon request from a substantial cache of literary art. Much of which has been set to musical composition. Creating lyrical portraits of music and verse.

Brien’s experience runs the gamut from bars, lounges, nightclubs, pig-pickin’s, and festivals; to garden parties, strolling minstrel, wedding/receptions, and high-end upscale restaurants.

He has an extensive repertoire, and an uncanny ability to read an audience and choose exactly the right music for the moment. Whether they be sock-hoppers, baby-boomers, or senior citizens, he seems to know just what to play for their maximum enjoyment.

On occasion Brien plays his own music at the Historic Inn’s outside “Garden Pub” along with the songs of Jimmy Buffett, James Taylor, and others. Carolina Pale Ale and Nut Brown Ale from the Carolina Brewing Company in Holly Springs are on draft, and Chatham Hill Wine is featured. Brien is one of the Triangle’s best musicians he always enjoys the outdoors and the Garden setting.

Brien's Biography

Brien comes from a family rich in vocal and musical talent. He began playing guitar and singing when he was only 8 yrs. old, and made his debut appearance on an early morning television show at age 10. He has since been classically trained in both voice and guitar.

Imitating his Dad, a champion quality whistler, Brien became an accomplished whistler himself, and integrates the lost art of whistling, both lovely and lively, into much of his music.
